In the Cluster of Excellence POLiS we are trying to find more sustainable batteries based on mor abundandt elements such as Sodium, Potassium, Aluminum, Calcium, Magnesium etc.

If you want to know more about it and get some insights about what a battery researcher does in the laboratory, please come to our workshop!

Workshop: From Lithium to "Post-Lithium" batteries

You will get a first introduction to know how a rechargeable battery work and understand why we want to study post-lithium chemistries.
After that, you will enter our laboratories and see how an electrode is prepared, how a battery (like a coin cell) is assembled and finally you will see your battery working.

You will be assisted by PhD students and post-doc of the "Materials Synthesis for Energy Storage group" at KIT.

The workshop is offered as part of Girls' Day at KIT. By participating in the workshop, you also take part in the supporting program of Girls' Day on Campus South. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. with a joint introductory event (in the Tulla lecture hall, building 11.40, Englerstr. 11, 76131 Karlsruhe). After the welcome, exciting lectures and further information about KIT follow. The workshop you selected will then take place at 11:30 a.m.
